2008 LeRoy Cross Country Schedule

UPDATED 11:00 AM - Saturday Morning (new info is in red - newest info in black)

Up coming events:

1) Turn your uniforms in this week - Jake K,  Jessica E still owe uniforms as of Monday 11 - 17.

2) The online registration for Footlockers is available HERE . YOU are responsible for getting your registration taken care of. Registration closed on 11/25/08 at 8:59 PM. (Thats the Tuesday before Thanksgiving)

3) Information for NYC can be printed here:  Waiver form that you MUST turn in Friday morning at the bus - HERE

4) The Hotel is the Saddle Brook Marriott.  201-843-9500

5) Remember: 1) dress in warm ups because you go directly to the course, 2) bring money for food 3) the bus leaves the park and ride Friday morning at 7:15 and you have to have your permission slip signed. 4) DO NOT WEAR your LeRoy cross country shirts or shorts when you race. You can wear them any other time - just not from the starting line to the finish line.

6) Room assignments: Bryan Ahl, Brant Matthews, Jake Krautwurst, Jack Bennett  -  Jake Bortle, Ed Cigno, Paul Schwan  -  Ali Glover, Molly Eadie, Jessica Erhmentraut  -  Maggie Matthews, Casey Arthur, Katie Hughes

7) Cost: The rooms with 3 people cost the club $210 / person, the rooms with 4 people cost the club $ 180 / person. With a total of $2610 for the athletes. The chaperons cost is less b/c of a discount the bluemountainXC people give. At this point I am not 100% sure what that discount is going to be. We have $1850 in the Oatka Running Club account. So 2610 - 1850 = 760 then $760 / 13 is $58.50.... but remember this doesn't include the cost to our chaperons. The latest email I got made it sound like we would be able to bring 3 chaperons (got that one Sat morning), but it wasn't fully clear. What I would like is for each of the 13 athletes going to turn a check in to Jack by the end of practice on Monday for $65 made out to the Oatka Running Club. I just got the info on chaperons - keep the checks at $65 / person (athlete and / or chaperon) and we are ok.

8) Remember, Jack also needs people to help the Moose with their event tonight. The Moose does a lot for us - we need to make sure we return the favor.

Bergen Invite - Congrats to Bortle for completing his first XC race and helping the boys team to a third place team finish. Great job to Jack and Jake for their overall first and second place finishes. Great job to Dan and Paul for 13th and 16th overall in the race. The girls team looked aggressive out there with Maggie learning the ropes out near the front. Jessica and Ali had solid races in the midst of pack and Emilie / Casey / Molly pushed through and picked off more runners as the race moved on. Boys: 3rd place out of 15 schools. Girls: 6th place out of 17 schools RESULTS

Week 1 at GCP # 2 (the new course) - PICTURES A good day of racing as the girls team defeated Hornell for the FIRST TIME EVER in my coaching career. Maggie and Jessica got top 5 honors, but I was really impressed with the way that Ali battled a couple of girls from Notre Dame the whole time. Emily / Casey / Molly moved their way through a pack of Hornell girls as they endured the loop the second time. We really did learn why this course was designed the way it was.  Both the boys and girls teams are 2 - 1 on the season. Boys: 27 - 30 loss to ND, 23 - 34 win over Hornell, 22 - 35 win over Kendall. Girls: 22 - 35 loss to ND, 25 - 31 win over Hornell, and defeated incomplete Kendall. RESULTS

Week 2 at GCP # 2 (the new course ... again) - A much better day of racing now that we have had a chance to rest after a couple of aggressive weeks of practice. Congrats to Jack and Jake for taking first and second place again this season, but just as impressive was the fact that the boys put 4 boys in the top 6 overall. The top 4 boys dropped an average of 15 seconds each from last week. Both Casey and Bortle dropped 1:38 overall from last week. Maggie, Jessica, Ali and Emilie dropped an average of 25 seconds. The boys and girls teams both defeated all 4 teams to raise their records to 6 - 1 on the season. Girls: 26 - 30 win over Livonia, 26 - 31 win over Holley and defeated incomplete teams from Pavilion and Bath - Haverling. Boys: 21 - 35 win over Bath - Haverling, 24 - 33 win over Pavilion, 22 - 35 win over Livonia and a win over incomplete Holley. RESULTS

Wildcat Invitational - Great job to both the boys and girls teams who had several top performances at Whitman. Both Jake and Jack's finishing times take over the top 2 spots on the "Top 25 all time performances at Whitman" list with Paul and Dan close behind as they claimed the 10th and 14th spots respectively. Ed, Brian and Brant all completed their first races as they helped the boys team to a 3rd place finish only 7 points behind the winning Pembroke Dragons - who we race on Tuesday.  In the girls race, Maggie, Jessica and Ali all finished with top 50 medals - the most in recent history. Compared to the Whitman Invite last year, Emilie ran 20 seconds faster, and Molly ran a very impressive 2:59 faster. RESULTS

Week 3 at Byron Bergen - PICTURES  The boys team picked up an important 27 - 30 win over number one ranked Pembroke in the Section Five coaches poll. Ed continues to improve, as he moved up in time compared to other runners in the race and starts to close the gap between he and the front four. The girls team took a training run as they picked up wins over incomplete Keshequa and Pembroke. RESULTS
